BELIEVING FIRMLY IN THE POWER OF PRAYER

    Senior Pastor and Elder

James MacDonald (D. Min. Phoenix Seminary) is married to his high school sweetheart, Kathy, and both are from Ontario, Canada. He is the father of three grown children, two daughters-in-law, a son-in-law, and grandfather to five amazing grandsons. James’ ministry focuses on the unapologetic proclamation of God’s Word. In 1988, along with a small group of ministry partners, James and Kathy planted Harvest Bible Chapel which currently meets in multiple locations across Chicagoland each weekend.

Walk in the Word, a Bible-teaching broadcast ministry, was established in 1997. The radio program reaches millions of listeners, and the television audience extends across the globe. In 2002, a church-planting ministry called Harvest Bible Fellowship was born and has established churches across North America and around the world.

James’ extensive ministry also includes a training center for pastors, a year-round camp, a center for biblical counseling, a disaster recovery organization, and a Christian school—all used to reach more people with the life-changing message of the Gospel.

James is the author of several books including Vertical Church, Authentic, When Life is Hard, Always True, and most recently, Come Home.

    Rick Donald

    Assistant Senior Pastor and Elder

How I came into relationship with Jesus Christ
I grew up in a Christian home and accepted Christ at 12 years old. At age 20, God used a crisis to help me see the emptiness in what I was pursuing and my need for him. I rededicated my life. He led me into ministry.

    How I came to Harvest
I received a phone call from Pastor James. I was impacted by the heart commitment of the people to see God do something great.

    Scott Milholland

    Senior Executive Pastor

How I came into a relationship with Jesus Christ
I grew up without faith. As an adult, success came easy. Work was my life. In 2000 my wife left and life went dark. At surrender, I found the Bible my grandparents gave me as a boy and cried, “God help me.” Later, a young woman asked, “Would you like hope?” In 2003, my new life began after trusting Jesus. I married that young woman and today have a God centered life, marriage and family.

    How I came to Harvest
I have listened daily to Walk in the Word since 2008 during my morning run. I heard about the position while serving in another church. My wife and I had prayed and dreamed about serving at Harvest one day. After months of prayer and Godly counsel we knew The Lord was calling us to Harvest.

Why I do what I do
After years in the marketplace I am humbled to use my gifts for the church and His Kingdom.

How I came into a relationship with Jesus Christ
We moved to a new house, three doors down from a church. The Pastor came to our house and invited my brothers and me to AWANA. That became our church home. When I was 9-years old I received Christ one Sunday night after an invitation from that same Pastor. I was baptized when I was 11.

How I came into a relationship with Jesus Christ
In eighth grade, God used a serious injury to humble me by showing me my vulnerability, selfishness, and most importantly, my need of a Savior. I gave my life to Him the day of that injury and now live for His glory instead of my own!

    How I came to Harvest
While attending Harvest in the early 2000s, I was leading a Para-Church Ministry and seeing lots of fruit but found that those being saved needed discipleship. How I Came to Know Jesus:
I came to know Christ right here at Harvest Bible Chapel. In November 1998 I was dealing with a tragic event and a co-worker told me about Harvest. The first time I came to a service I knew I was hearing the Truth and that I was in the right place. Four months later I submitted my life to Christ and by His grace He redeemed me and completely transformed my life.

    How I Came on Staff:
While serving as a Student Ministries volunteer the Lord placed a very clear call to ministry on my heart. This call was confirmed by the pastor and people I served with so I took a step of faith and pursued an MDiv. degree at the Moody Graduate School. Upon graduation I joined the Harvest staff.

Why I Do What I Do:
I do what I do because I believe that it is what the Lord has prepared me for and called me to.

    Associate Pastor, North Shore

How I came into a relationship with Jesus Christ
When I was 17, I was convicted by the words of Jesus, 'But who do you say that I am?' (Matthew 16:15). After studying through the Bible and being challenged to 'die to self', I accepted Jesus as Lord of my life. Since then, each day has been a process of me becoming less, and Christ becoming more.

    How I came to Harvest
I was connected to Harvest through the Harvest Bible Fellowship. During my time in the training centre, the opportunity came my way to help Harvest launch their seventh campus.

    Campus Pastor, Elgin

How I came into relationship with Jesus Christ
As a PK, I've "known" about Jesus my whole life. I didn't give my live to Jesus until the summer before my senior year of High School. It was on a sand volleyball court at Lake Lundgren Bible Camp that submitted my life to Christ's Lordship. July, 1989.

    How I came to Harvest
We began to attend Harvest while I was a student at Trinity. We got involved with the newly started college ministry, and from there, after a year or two, Harvest asked me to join the staff as a full-time administrative assistant in Children's Ministry.

    What I do at Harvest
I serve as the Campus Pastor of the Elgin Campus.

Why I do what I do

How I came into a relationship with Jesus Christ
I was a fan of Jesus Christ from 19-32 years of age but didn't fully recognize the power of the Gospel. At that time I repented of my sins and my lifestyle changed radically. I began to follow Christ.

    How I came to Harvest
We saw a good partnership between Biblical Soul Care and the local church. Pastor James and I agreed that a co-ministry in this area would advance both Harvest's desire for biblical counseling and our vision to return Biblical Soul Care to the local church.

    What I do at Harvest
I serve as the Executive Director of Biblical Soul Care.

How I came into relationship with Jesus Christ
I accepted Christ when I was ten at my home church in La Marque, Texas. Later during my college years and early in my marriage, it became obvious I was living according to my own plan instead of God’s. It was then I began to fully understand what God’s grace really meant for me and recommitted my life to follow Jesus Christ. I am very thankful for those who God used to speak wisdom and truth into my life.

    How I came to Harvest
I first learned of Harvest in 2010 at a live streaming event in the Dallas, Texas area. I enjoyed the open and honest discussion of matters concerning the church and the clear conviction of proclaiming the truth of the Bible. I then began listening to Walk in the Word and a few years later my family and I made the decision to join Harvest full time and relocated to the Elgin, IL area.

How I came into a relationship with Jesus Christ
Because of a mom who was faithful in reading Bible stories to me and a Sunday School teacher who shared the gospel with me, at 8 years old I accepted Christ as my Savior.

    How I came to Harvest
Always wondered what Harvest was about. Came to Harvest for a Children's Ministry Network meeting. The Pastor of Family Ministries told me they were looking for a new Children's Pastor. That started the interview process and I was offered the position and started at Harvest a few months later.

    Campus Pastor, Aurora

How I came into relationship with Jesus Christ
I am grateful to be raised in a godly home. I was introduced to God's Word from infancy and came to know the Lord as a child. When I was 16, I had a crisis of faith. In August of 1987 I embraced Christ personally - not because of parents or peers. But for myself. Like Daniel, I purposed in my heart to follow the Lord. I later went to Moody and my calling to ministry was affirmed.

    How I came to Harvest
Camille and I were drawn to be a part of God's vibrant work at Harvest. I have had a few pastoral roles at Harvest and am honored to be the Campus Pastor in Aurora serving with some incredible people who are godly, loving, committed, sacrificial, and fun.

How I came into a relationship with Jesus Christ
I was failing out of college and living a life that was not pleasing to God. I tried to fill the void in my life with things that took me further away from God. But God, in His immense grace, reached out to me at a youth conference in Texas and I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ.

    How I came to Harvest
In April 2006 I felt the call to full-time pastoral ministry. I met with Rick Donald and Kent Shaw and shared what God was doing in my life. Shortly after, the decision was made to hire a full time Campus Pastor for Niles. I was hired in August 2006.

How I came into a relationship with Jesus Christ
On March 28, 1973, I attended Sunday school in the Chicago area. The teacher gave the Gospel message and I felt not only the weight of my sin but my separation from God. It is the fruit in my life and His faithfulness to me in moments of total joy and complete heartbreak that proves my decision was real.

    How I came to Harvest
In 1994-1995, a man called us every single week for a year and invited us to come to Harvest Bible Chapel meeting in Rolling Meadows High School. One day we said yes. In May of 2007, I was asked to join the Children's Ministry team and start a summer day camp ministry.

How I came into a relationship with Jesus Christ
I was living Junior High life apart from Christ in secret rebellion. One night I prayed for new friends. God placed me in a new school for my freshman year where I met some students who loved the Lord and lived the Christian life genuinely. I received Christ at a Lundstrum Family Singers concert in the very Junior High School where I had been rebelling. God is great and greatly to be praised!

    How I came to Harvest
I had been Pastor of Student Ministries for nearly 8 years at Springbrook Community Church. I've listened to James MacDonald on the radio most of my adult life. God led me to Harvest through a ministry relationship with Greg Bradshaw, Campus Pastor at Harvest Bible Chapel, Crystal Lake.

I came to know Christ when I was 16 years old. Before Christ, I was a reckless teenager living for myself. How I came into a relationship with Jesus Christ
Before I knew Christ I was full of self: self-reliant, self-focused, self-centered. But God, through various trials (parents' divorce, struggling business, relational trials) allowed me to my sin for what it was, introduced me to His grace, and I've been His ever since. And now, I have the honor of being His child and co-worker in the mission of the Church.

    How I came to Harvest
My time at Harvest began with the Compassion Ministry by helping start the Harvest House ministry, building bridges from the church to our community's most unreached neighborhoods. How I came into a relationship with Jesus Christ
Through out my whole life I've been surrounded by God working. My father is a Pastor in Mexico and because of that I had the privilege of hearing the gospel at a very young age. On spring break of my last year of college I was contacted by Harvest's worship pastor, Rory Noland. He had been teaching a course where I was at school. How I came into a relationship with Jesus Christ
Christ was demonstrated to me by several women, when I was in my late 20s with a dissolving marriage. While I was seeking answers, a book given to me by one of them shared the gospel and my need for forgiveness in Christ. I simply yielded in response, and have never looked back.

I read various religious literature and studied much of world religious philosophy, yet I found truth for life and the forgiveness of my sins through Jesus as displayed through the New Testament.

    How I came to Harvest
I first became aware of Harvest through Pastor James' radio ministry, Walk in the Word, only a few months after having known the Lord. I felt called to seminary, so I decided to stay in Chicago for school so that I could attend Harvest and serve practically in the church while attending seminary.

How I came into a relationship with Jesus Christ

How I came into a relationship with Jesus Christ
Externally, life appeared great. But inwardly, there was a huge void in my heart. I searched high and low for things to fulfill me but was never satisfied. In 2002, I hit rock-bottom stricken with fear, worry, anxiety, and guilt. A friend invited me to Harvest where I heard the gospel for the first time! Six months later, I dropped to my knees and received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Pastor of Discipleship and Biblical Soul Care, Rolling Meadows

How I came into a relationship with Jesus Christ
As a young adult living for myself, God was pursuing me. During my first tour in the Army I began reading the Bible faithfully. One day I was caught in a storm and pulled over to wait it out. I realized that as I failed to outrun the storm I also could not outrun God anymore. It was during the summer of 1994 that I confessed my sin, sought the forgiveness of Christ and began serving in the church.

    How I came to Harvest
Early 2011, the Lord convicted me to pray about a possible job change. My wife and I prayed for direction and soon after that I met Garrett Higbee and became acquainted with Soul Care. After several months of prayer the Lord worked to clearly show us that ministry at Harvest was His plan for us.

Serve as a pastor in the Biblical Soul Care ministry.

How I came into a relationship with Jesus Christ
I grew up in a Christian home and first trusted in Christ when I was nine. I knew that even my best was as filthy rags before the Lord. I knew I needed his forgiveness and that Jesus alone could pay the penalty for my sin. He has set me free for His glory!

After the Lord had us in a season of waiting and trusting Him, he provided a pastoral position that was a perfect fit. Our faith and trust in Him were deepened so much through that time of uncertainty. God is faithful!

How I came into a relationship with Jesus Christ
After college, my soul was unsatisfied with everything I had tried. I had grown up in a Christian home and during a really low time in my life, Scripture that I was taught early on began to flood into my heart and mind. I was like, "What is this?" I didn't know these words and God brought them to life in me. I began searching the Scriptures and gave my life to Christ.

    How I came to Harvest
After attending Harvest for nearly 1year and serving in Children's Ministry, God led me to go on short-term missions trips. I felt a calling to full-time ministry; left the market place and moved to Guatemala. When I returned, I served as an intern in Missions at Harvest. The rest is history.

I serve as the Director of Missions and Church Planting for Harvest Bible Chapel.
